Sara Minges, M.S., Stepfamily Coach
Hi, I'm Sara, the creative mind behind "Redheaded Stepdaughter" coaching. I'm also a redheaded stepdaughter (literally and figuratively), with 26 years of coaching and consulting experience and 10 years as a play therapist).
Sure, I've done some cool things (hop over to the Accolades page, if that interests you). But that's not why you are reading my bio.
You want to know if I get you, if I understand how it feels to be a stepdaughter that has been left out, excluded, rejected, or made to feel like your thoughts and feelings don't matter if they irritate your stepmother or rock the boat.
So, I've been a stepdaughter and stepsister since 1993 (33 years). For a few years, I was a stepsister to 4 stepbrothers! My experience is each blended family was quite different, and changed drastically, when the brother I was raised with died in 1998.
I know how it feels to be left out, isolated or ignored by my stepmother on Mother's Day, faced rejection when she preferred to spend time with her daughter-in-law and her mother on this special day, without including me.
I know how it feels to be labeled as emotional, moody, or difficult for addressing my stepmother's behavior, and/or being blamed for her impulsive or irrational behavior.
If any of this sounds similar to your experience, I'd love to help you heal, to love yourself, and believe you are worthy of love.
